This means we are trying to drastically increase the number of lives that we save, and hopefully win some grant money to help us continue to do so. In order to that, we'll be relying very heavily on our foster parents and volunteers, so we appreciate your getting the word out about the importance of fostering!Sarahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02012552898532206114noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-84298423177022494.post-62344260999363201122012-11-04T14:31:17.131-08:002012-11-04T14:31:17.131-08:00Someone asked about storm debris (branches, sticks...Someone asked about storm debris (branches, sticks....).

After Derecho, there was a special run of Arlington trucks to pick up debris. Arlco hasnt announced anything yet. I sent them a message asking. So far this is what the Environmental Services website says

"For storm debris, please request a brush collection online or call 703-228-6570. Leaf bags should only be used for leaves. The normal requirement for brush to be less than 18-inches in diameter has been waived. The signage is confusing at best, left (arrow) only, and immediately after the intersection, there are two left turn lanes leading onto the highway, the left land is right in front. No street lines to assist. Seriously considering contesting it.chindohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11318314601644801083noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-84298423177022494.post-61337868770453011502012-08-07T04:59:06.430-07:002012-08-07T04:59:06.430-07:00This is not a conversation about money nor is it a...This is not a conversation about money nor is it a conversation about raising taxes.

This is a conversation about the APS bus system which 90% of the time last year was fantastic, but then on occasion fell down and was miserable. It does not take more spending or more taxes to tell a bus driver that showing up early for a pick up, and leaving students at the bus stop - is not acceptable. That's an organizational / management issue - not a money issue.

This is a discussion about telling students, who live 1.4 miles away from school - that they cant get on the bus at the bus stop that is .2 miles from their house. This is a discussion about forcing students to cross dangerous roads and walk in bad weather. This is a discussion about more cars dropping kids off at school. This is not about money - this is about the wrong solution to the problem - making things worse.Cybertelecomhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02814054461353903112noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-84298423177022494.post-72739577110223970392012-08-06T19:07:41.647-07:002012-08-06T19:07:41.647-07:00Regarding your third to last paragraph, APS will c...Regarding your third to last paragraph, APS will continue to grant exceptions for those living inside the perimeter who would have to cross heavily-traveled roadways.

Overall, though, I ask what you would propose APS cut in order to fund more busing? Fewer teachers? Abandon plans for the new elementary school to relieve overcrowding? What do you think isn't contributing to the quality of education that can be cut? Although Arlington hasn't been hit nearly as hard as many areas, it's not been immune to the economy so I don't think "just raise taxes" isn't going to be a palatable answer.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-84298423177022494.post-8698194302586072802012-07-05T08:26:06.438-07:002012-07-05T08:26:06.438-07:00Arlington County Government's communications t...Arlington County Government's communications team has been working hard since the start of this emergency to keep the community informed and to respond to all queries from reporters, residents, business owners and others. I understand the concern of too many alerts. Within the arlington alert profile there are many groups one can sign up for, such as customers who live in Arlington but work in Fairfax. I would recommend if you would still like to receive some alerts (and we hope you do), that you log in and remove the other groups from your profile. It's not intentional, I think - just unanticipated. There are a few places in the Arlington Code that have some unintended/non-sensical consequences for cycling, but when I've raised this, the feedback that I get is that the County Attorney hasn't historically been interested in what I'd call "Code maintenance."MBhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10573030032813327647noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-84298423177022494.post-16869639979872958462012-01-20T03:44:52.553-08:002012-01-20T03:44:52.553-08:00Hello Don_Run,
